Birthday Photos

For Curtis' birthday we had a really nice family day! I got home from work and my one-year-old was taking a nap and when he woke up we had a couple of presents for him to open. He had a lot of fun with that - especially ripping the tissue paper.

I has been so hot here that we decided to take the boy to the beach and he loved it! So did we - it felt so good to cool off.

When we have taken him to the beach before he has NOT liked the sand on his hands or feet. This has been a good thing since we haven't had to worry about him getting sand everywhere - especially in his mouth. Until yesterday. At first he would touch the sand and quickly return to the safety of our beach mats. Then he realized that sand isn't so bad - actually, it can be kind of fun! He learned that crawling up the sand dunes is really cool! He loved having such a wide open space to crawl around in. We let him explore and he hardly looked back. He took off like he knew what he was doing. Is this a sign of what's to come? Are we in trouble?

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Curtis James!!!

It's hard to believe that it has already been a year since our little boy was born. Everyone says that they grow up so fast and of course it's true! But we have had the best year of our lives with our beautiful boy.

Curtis is such a good boy! He is a joy every day when he wakes up. Even as he is kicking us in the ribs. He is almost ready to walk - as you can see from these pictures he stands up by himself and is pretty proud of himself. He will even take a step or two before he goes back to crawling. He is a climber! He loves to climb on anything he can get his little monkey feet on - including us.

Curtis now has 8 teeth and it seems like more are on the way. The hair is taking it's time to come in, but slowly and surely, it's getting longer. We think it's gonna be curly. And although he hasn't gained 10 pounds since his birth, the boy is getting big. He is tall and lean!!

One year ago we were basking in the joy of our brand new baby. All the hours and days of labor to get him here were erased the second we saw him. We were nervous and clueless and so excited to start this chapter of our lives. We are still clueless but we are having so much fun with our almost toddler.

We love you baby boy.
